Tripe, Drivel & Goodness

Tripe http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/tripe?jss=0 The second definition please…

Drivel  http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/drivel

Got those two definitions down?  Good.

A post over at Ten Ton Hammer  needs to be “corrected”.  Having those two definitions above may  prove useful.

Some points are downright false.  Post is here: http://www.tentonhammer.com/eve/guides/politics/laws_of_power it is titled “The Nine laws of Power in EVE Online.”

Law #9 is not totally hair brained except this “The task at hand must be completed, or at least it should be someone else’s fault when it fails.”  Bullshit, stand up say you screwed up and take it like a man, blaming others for your ineptitude makes you in the end seem what you are, a weasel.

#8 is a gem, again I am quoting here ” Don’t make any friend that you can’t screw over to win at EVE Online.” If you want a way of play that will screw you over?  Take this advice.  I would have absolutely NOTHING were it not for my Corp Ceptacemia.  Without them I’d have stopped playing 2 years ago. In addition to that, having stayed with my corp through wins and losses shows that I am loyal to both the IDEA that is a corp (something greater than ones self) and the FUNCTION that is the corp ( we are only as strong as our weakest link, help build your corp-mates up )  In other words solo play will kill ya but flying with a good group of people not only gets you monetary ISK but guards against losses, there is no downside to a good corp.  Screw your corp  over at your peril, it is a great way to stop playing.

Law #7 also seems decent until “When something goes wrong for you, do not “own” the failure by apologizing for it or otherwise admitting that you are at fault. To do so would be showing weakness in a way that people subconsciously understand to be incompetence.”  Again, STAND UP AND BE COUNTED.  No, do not scream it fro the rooftops that you made a foolish mistake but damn bro your only human. Own it and learn from it.

As is number 5 Fame Is Better Than Money” to quote the bottom of the article “If your personal brand is popular enough, you will eventually be incorporated into the leadership of whatever organization you associate with. Bet on it.” This is Drivel, the ONLY thing I have gotten by being “well known”, I do not qualify for famous I think, is targetted.  When fighting Brick Squad I was targeted, When fighting Goons, I was targeted, with fighting C0ven and Stain Empire I was again targeted.SO all I have gotten for being famous?  Shot at. Not one penny not one nothing ( no complaints, just needed to be said)

The 1st Law, according to the article is: “#1 Trust No One” I understand the thinking but I used a modified one        “Trust but verify” I trust my new corpmates will do the right thing but we still limit how much they can take.  I give my account to no one, yet other directors can call me to reach me.  In the end, it takes time, time for those you fly with to know your not a thief, trust can always be abused but just because I trust me friend, does not mean I will lay down $5,000, my two 10MM Beretta’s, turn over the key to my Car, and my house, and tell them please be quiet my wife is sleeping naked in the next room. Trust but verify.

Back in April/March I talked about the system I use.  Recently I have undergone a”upgrade” if you will.  No longer do I ahve a 22 inch monitor on the left and a 23 inch monitor on my right now I have 3 X 19″ in a triple head to go setup + my 23″ monitor above them

Crude picture:

The field of view is Astounding.  Just incredible to behold.  It took some time to get all the pieces together (It is also  one of the reasons I have not had a ton of time to get into the game recently)  Yes I know there are some better solutions to doing things ( i.e. 3 X 22″ monitors done the same way ) but remember I have a wife and a house so PC parts must be done as inexpensively as I can ( the whole setup cost me $100 cash from a  friend) so all in all not a bad deal)

Sign up for the damn Deathrace will ya?  Rixx could use some players to sign-up, the prizes so far seem awesome.  & people though?  As one of the “Magnificent 7″ I am telling you to get your ass in gear and sign up already. See post here:  http://eveoganda.blogspot.com/2010/08/death-race-reality.html

Take care all and Good Hunting.

Of recruiting, combat, and errata

I thought I’d share with people some information I have been gathering. Over the last week or so, I have been recruiting folks for CEPTA.

1) When recruiting, pay no attention to the ass-hats for they will come out of the woodwork.

2) There is a service accVIEW, which is highly recommended to help recruit people.  It acts very much like a API broker, providing information to corporate recruiters ( like me) and yet does protects the full API.  I actually paid isk to join the service and have yet to be disappointed.

3) Spies are inevitable but things can be done to protect your Corporation if you wish, diligence is important.

4) Take notes,  it is nearly impossible to lie consistently for any given length of time.

5) Remember to change you CSPA recruiters will not pay for communications.

###@@@——————————————————————-@@@###

There has been some combat of late, the majority being small skirmishes. Mostly against C0ven, Stain Empire, and Brick Squad.  There was a highly successful operation over the weekend that took a  great deal of planning.  SO hats off to all the guys that participated on the Operation.

WordPress 3.0 is out, and yours truly has updated the blog to run with it..if you have not yet upgraded due to fear at the process it was VERY fast! If something look awry or does not seem to fit anymore please let me know.

###@@@——————————————————————-@@@###

I do not know about you folks but I actually really enjoy being able to access my mail from the web, that has been a well done upgrade i think.  After watching AT8, I  have started to dread a little that the next expansion ( Incarna?) will again not be focused on ships , but of tying in more content to the system.  Do I want to alter my picture? Yes I do.

Do I want to walk around in stations? Perhaps, if there is something interesting to see and do.  I want bigger, faster, meaner ships, I want combat to continue to evolve and change over time like it has done to date.

Do I like the concept of PI?  Yes, I do,   I would like an option between 23 hour cycle and 4 days cycle though. Am I making as much POS fuel as I thought?  No, I am not. Unless I REALLY micro-manage the outputs I do not think that even checking once per day I can make enough POS fuel to keep 1 tower running. Perhaps the outputs need to be tweaked a bit.

I am planning to go to Fanfest, but honestly for me it is about the combat so I am filled with some trepidation that it will be all “look at the shinies and the costumes and the people.” I say screw the costumes give me MORE SHIPS!

Well I just want to fight.  In space ships, outside in space… you know where the other people should be. Wait and see is a great mantra… I will certainly do that.

TC for now and Good Hunting

Results of our challenge ** with Video **

Last week another very good corporation within Systematic-chaos, decided they would issue a challenge to CEPTA, their name ? Silver Snake Enterprises, or SSE.  We have known SSE a very long time and have come to respect them greatly, so we wracked our brains, came up with plans and set wheels in motion.

We had three schools of thought:

  1. ECM
  2. Remote Repair
  3. DPS

Now here is a little question…what do you think we would choose?  If you know anything about CEPTA or the way we fly, or our killboard stats, you know we can field at least any of these setups.

The rules:

  • T1 Cruisers
  • T1 Modules
  • Rigs
  • Boosters

Our Fleet setup : fitted with the best named (meta 3, meta 4 gear we could find)

ShipPilotResult
3 ThoraxArctos
Paul Farstar
Carl Tremura
2 Thorax down
1 Survived
3 OmenAcerbo
CBScout
3 Survived
3 RuptureManasi
Dusk Nemesis
Gixxer 1000
3 Survived
StabberNitrov54Survived

So if you could not tell we were fit for Maximum DPS.

SSE’s fleet:

ShipPilotResult
3 X BlackbirdAkira
Luther DelMordaine
1 unknown left the field
Destroyed
2 X ArbitratorNagrarok
Siphannu
Destroyed
3 X ExequrorPercival79
Hemmo Paskiainen
M Lindh
Destroyed
2 X RuptureBorg drone3of9
nye 2k
Destroyed

SO they were HEAVILY into ECM, as a matter of fact I was jammed about 80%of the fight, which is ok, as that meant the others ( namely the Omens/Stabbers/Thorax… just wrecked em..)

I was on a few killmails due to my good Warrior’s doing me proud.

Some fun stats

  • Fight length: 3 Min 30 Seconds
  • Cost of each f our ships (+/- 220 Million per ship) that is the cost of a fully T2 fitted HAC/ or RECON!
  • Each of us had at least 3 implants if not more
  • Ruptures had Over 29K Effective HP.
  • Every pilot could overheat and use boosters and all were level 5 at both guns and  weapons

ALL in all some awesome fun.

The SSE guys fraps it, as did one of our guys, so once that becomes available I’ll link it.

Final thoughst:

SSE brought out the jamming option ( which is one of the things we considered at first) we went with pure ganking DPS, we had a spectacular fiht and really enjoyed it , but DAMN was it expensive!

My next blog will tell you about my first engagement with my Carrier..:)

Take Care, hats off the SSE, and good fight all.
