Hulk destruction is good for EvE
Ganking hapless people is NOT my thing. Not in any way shape or form.
Yet Hulkageddon , is now in it’s Third incarnation, via Helcity Bosun, is Well… damn almost over 2 days into effect . Once again teaching people many good lessons. Situational Awareness for one and preparedness for another.
I happen to like most pirates fairly well, to be honest, most of the best I have met; were very cool people.
Here is the short list:
- Nashh from The Bastards,
- Mynxeee, from Noir Mercs ,
- Spectre ( yes that guy) I love you and your pony too bro
- The Hellcats
- Shae (formerly of the hellcats)
- the Python Cartel.
99.9991% of them are good people that play pirates in EvE. Would I be upset if they shot me down? nope I wouldn’t I would probably laugh and as rare as it is for me type ‘gf’ in local.
Yes they will still blow up your ship, but do not mistake that for actually hating you, they just wanna see the purty explosions.
SO Manasi you are saying that people blowing up other peoples ships in game is a good thing? Yes indeed I am. Does that means you want t hear the wailing of carebears and the gnashing of teeth as miners are ganked by the hundreds? Meh maybe not so much wailing, just have fun with it.
Well Manasi that seems like you condone people getting blown up and such. Indeed I do, but not for why you may think. I am not a really bloodthirsty guy looking to see cool explosions. Loss seems to teach us better than anything else. If people could set their ego’s aside ( yes I know that is very hard to do) they would come to the realization that something can be learned in every hostile encounter.
Do I wish for hulkageddon to blow up every hulk in the game? No, what’s the point then, but by shooting people, they then have the propensity to learn something.
When the pilots learn something they become much more difficult or even impossible to caught unaware. Awareness is key to prospering in eve. If in the loss of a 150 M dollar ship a pilot becomes MORE aware of their surroundings and can prepare for attack at any moment, they become a better pilot. Even Helicty Bosun has people that comment each year that say,he has missed catching due to them being aware of what is going on.
Now the fact that some of the people that get proverbially smacked in the head are absolute new to the game can be distressing, new people to the game allow others who may not have experienced the game to do so, and if the very first interaction is getting blown out of the sky, admittedly that would kinda suck. EvE whittles down those that simply cannot “take” the punishment through mechanics that teach us NO place is SAFE. Any activity that further enhances this idea is an very good thing.
TC and watch your ass people. Helicity Bosun and the Hulkaggeddon boys are coming for ya.
Of recruiting, combat, and errata
I thought I’d share with people some information I have been gathering. Over the last week or so, I have been recruiting folks for CEPTA.
1) When recruiting, pay no attention to the ass-hats for they will come out of the woodwork.
2) There is a service accVIEW, which is highly recommended to help recruit people. It acts very much like a API broker, providing information to corporate recruiters ( like me) and yet does protects the full API. I actually paid isk to join the service and have yet to be disappointed.
3) Spies are inevitable but things can be done to protect your Corporation if you wish, diligence is important.
4) Take notes, it is nearly impossible to lie consistently for any given length of time.
5) Remember to change you CSPA recruiters will not pay for communications.
###@@@——————————————————————-@@@###
There has been some combat of late, the majority being small skirmishes. Mostly against C0ven, Stain Empire, and Brick Squad. There was a highly successful operation over the weekend that took a great deal of planning. SO hats off to all the guys that participated on the Operation.

WordPress 3.0 is out, and yours truly has updated the blog to run with it..if you have not yet upgraded due to fear at the process it was VERY fast! If something look awry or does not seem to fit anymore please let me know.

I do not know about you folks but I actually really enjoy being able to access my mail from the web, that has been a well done upgrade i think. After watching AT8, I have started to dread a little that the next expansion ( Incarna?) will again not be focused on ships , but of tying in more content to the system. Do I want to alter my picture? Yes I do.
Do I want to walk around in stations? Perhaps, if there is something interesting to see and do. I want bigger, faster, meaner ships, I want combat to continue to evolve and change over time like it has done to date.
Do I like the concept of PI? Yes, I do, I would like an option between 23 hour cycle and 4 days cycle though. Am I making as much POS fuel as I thought? No, I am not. Unless I REALLY micro-manage the outputs I do not think that even checking once per day I can make enough POS fuel to keep 1 tower running. Perhaps the outputs need to be tweaked a bit.
I am planning to go to Fanfest, but honestly for me it is about the combat so I am filled with some trepidation that it will be all “look at the shinies and the costumes and the people.” I say screw the costumes give me MORE SHIPS!
Well I just want to fight. In space ships, outside in space… you know where the other people should be. Wait and see is a great mantra… I will certainly do that.
TC for now and Good Hunting
Proof in the pudding
Some followup that I have found from CCP soundwave about the purposes of PI:
from his responses to questions about PI:
“The end rewards will come off the NPC market. Basically you’ll be able to build POS structures, sov structures, POS fuel (the NPC seeded parts), T2 components (the NPC seeded parts again), station components and nanite repair paste. Might be forgetting something, but that’s it I think.”
“1. There will be some planets that will be barred, but as a general rule, yes, all areas.
2. You fly out, pick a spot![]()
3. There is a post off the planet where you can pick your stuff up. Like a small stationary object.
4. Well 0.0 space will have the highest rewards, so there will be an advantage to being in a sov holding alliance.”
Life in 0.0 has a much higher strain in terms of logistics, infrastructure and just general hassle compared to life potentially next to empire space with NPC owned stations.
I think we’re just going to have to disagree(with the original poster who said it was not difficult) on the hassle involved in living in 0.0.
With point 1 he illustrates what I have been saying for a while now.
With point 2 he tells us the planets in 0.0 will have more “stuff”
With point 3 & point 4 he spells out exactly what I have known for years now
Logistically 0.0 is a HUGE cost and a wasted bit of time and energy, not to mention in game money.
In my recent Post about what I thought about the future of PI: http://manasi.eveplayer.net/2010/04/ripple-of-tyrannis/ I did not get quite enough into details about WHY it is important. Below is that level of detail, so I built a POS in EvEHQ (mind you , fast becoming a VERY important, out of game tool):
1 Large Gallente POS takes the following to run for 1 month:
| Item | Amount of Units /Month * WITH SOV | Cost per Unit |
|---|---|---|
| EU | 2016 | X 5300 = $10,684,800 |
| Ox | 12768 | X 109 = $1,391,712 |
| MP | 2688 | X 755= $2,029,440 |
| Clt | 4032 | X 1298.59 = $5,235,914.99 |
| Rb | 672 | X 6942.98 = $4,665,682.56 |
| HW | 20160 | X 22.54 = $454,406.4 |
| LO | 75264 | X 311.56 = $5,862,312.96 |
| Oxygen Isotopes | 227136 | X 377.74 = $85,798,352.64 |
| Stront ( one time ) | 10800 | X 814.80 = $8,799,840 |
| $119,060,148.48 | ||
| Jump fuel cost | ||
| Total Volume = 148,620 1 Anshar load | 26,344 Isotopes *2 (round trip) = 52,688 * 377.75 | $19,908,892 |
| Cost Total | $138,969,040.48 |
two Notes: we do not use Gallente towers & Cepta alone has a few POS on top of what the SyS-k Alliance has.
That’s 139M for ONE POS Including fuel for 8 jumps (I used the Gallente JF the Anshar)
That is a hell of a lot of money, granted some savings can be had by mining Ice and processing it down, if get 10 of these towers in operation and that is not inconceivable by any mean,s and you come out to about 1.4B a Month.
Take all that energy and a huge portion of the cost ( npc supplied commodities ) Plus the savings on the not having to jump it around and all of a sudden an alliance CAN be self sufficient WITHOUT having to go to empire. Instead funnel that into PI. Result: no real need to jump to Empire, and a decentralization of the markets: http://manasi.eveplayer.net/2010/04/decentralizing-the-markets/
Any thoughts out there?
